4 full sized laboratories

are unlocked after completing the tutorial. You probably know their names by now, but I’ll repeat them nonetheless:

• Butchery: avoid cleavers and the butcher, eat sausages and live on the edge!
• Cemetery: witches are chasing you, zombies await you and Hypno Chicken hypnotizes you!
• Military: trenches are not place for a Chicken. So Chicken gets some nukes and levels everything around it!
• Physics: all manner of deadly electrical machinery await Chicken and it’s clone. But Chicken has EMP!

3 thousand items of feedback

were received from players of Chickens Can Dream, and we enjoyed reading them all.

We got some really helpful stuff, varying from people asking us to make the game easier, to suggesting new obstacles and power-ups, to simply praising us for the game and making us feel happy on a rainy day!

We simplified the rocket launcher, we added nukes and zombies, made the chicken more dynamic, made the game an Xbox LIVE title, added music, overhauled the input, came up with short, focused levels, visual feedback for effects, and many many others. And comments like “i love u,chicken. Dream on” or “i think chickens especially boy ones should stop dreaming of naked girl chickens. I write this cause I am a girl” really made our hearts burst in rainbows of colors and ponies and unicorns.

There were also some ideas that no matter how hard we tried, our bosses didn’t let us put in the game

• maybe you could have a knife that chops off the chicken’s head, so the chicken goes crazy for a certain time, and you have to get past the checkpoint before the time runs out or you’ll die!
• there should be a naked pic of angelina jo lee if you beat the game
• i would marry this game thats how much i love it. (sorry, the game is too young to get married right now…)
• obstacle: angry poo throwing monkey
• add marijuana, and the effect could be hallucinations

It’s been almost 19 months since we began working on this project, and it’s evolved quite a lot from the first design. All the improvements were done to ensure the best possible experience for the players, and we got a lot of helpful feedback from people playing Chickens can Dream, which we released in February last year on the marketplace.

Chickens Can’t Fly is set to launch in early February, and we’re really excited to show you how much it evolved from Chickens Can Dream. Here are some of the things you’ll get in the game:

• Play across 5 laboratories: Hatchery, Butchery, Cemetery, Military and Physics
• Each laboratory has its own set of obstacles, power-ups and power-downs
• Over 50 Experiments with varied objectives and play-styles
• Survival Mode – the classic CCD experience streamlined, expanded and improved, available for each Laboratory

• Global Weekly Challenge: play the same level as everyone in the world and see how you rank up in the Leaderboards

Because we know everyone loves statistics, here are some statistics we gathered from the game so far:

• Over 80.000 players have played the game so far
• Over 1.614.353 chickens were ‘studied’ over the world
• On average, each player studied 28.2 chickens
• There is one player that tested a total of 2098 chickens
• The longest play session was 2 hours and 36 minutes
• The obstacles that were the most deadly are:
  • Barrier – 539394 deaths
  • Fan – 444941 deaths
  • Saw-on-a-rail – 206539 deaths
• We received over 1500 private messages from you, out of which more than 60% were NOT random text.

Chickens Can Dream 1.4 is finally out, and this time it should fix all issues encountered by people upgrading from earlier versions.
Also, we just released the following trailer for Chickens Can Dream.

As for the next version, we want to make amends to our older customers who got hit by our ‘update bugs’, and announce what will be in the next update, coming in one or two weeks:

• Two new collectibles (Slow Down and Lantern)
• One new obstacles (Jumping Pad)
• ~8 new facts to check

Have fun!

This issue will affect ONLY people updating the game from earlier versions to 1.2 and will cause the game to crash when starting up. There are two ways to solve this.

1. Uninstall Chickens Can Dream and then go to the marketplace and download it again. Unfortunately this will make you lose your progress (most hurtful, it will uncheck any fact you checked so far), but you will NOT lose your highscore in the global scoreboards.

2. Wait for Chickens Can Dream 1.3 to come out. We sent it to certification a few moments ago, and we hope it will reach the marketplace in a couple of days. Any game updating from any other version to 1.3 will work fine.

The issues does not affect fresh downloads directly to 1.2.

• add a tutorial to make it easier for people to learn how to play

• fix bugs – this include the two crashes reported by users

• balance difficulty. We had the feeling the game was sometimes too hard, but we didn’t know how much until highscores started showing up. Seeing the progress made by top entries made us realize people are not really getting to see all the cool the obstacles and collectibles we prepared. So we changed the difficulty such that early checkpoints will now be easier, and you’ll get to progress faster and get more cool stuff. We hope this will allow you to spend more time in the game

• add option to see either the global highscores, or find your position in the highscores table and see who’s around you, so you know the next score you need to beat.

All of this will be in the next update (V1.1), which we’re trying to get through certification next week.

As for future updates, we want to assure you you didn’t download just a beta version of a game. You downloaded a game we truly love and want to support as best as we can. So we’ll be bringing bug fixes as they are done, and add facts regularly, in parallel with working on Chickens Can’t Fly.

What is Chickens Can Dream?

As you know by know, we are working on Chickens Can’t Fly. And because we’re dedicated to making that game the best it can be from the start, we wanted to share a free game based on the same core mechanics, to get your feedback on how we can improve them. We made some modifications to the gameplay to make sure it feels like a real full game, not just a demo.

Thus, there are no fixed levels or Laboratories. You have randomly generated pits-of-doom in which you try to survive as long as possible. Why would you do that? Simple:

• There are a total of 10 obstacles you can unlock as you play, and see how good you are at surviving them
• There are a total of 10 collectibles. Some will be a blessing, some a curse. You may not want all that you unlock, but you will need them all so you can…
• Check 39 chicken-facts! Science is difficult, so you have to experiment much.
• Once you get a good score that you’re proud of, you can submit it to our global highscores tables and see how you place against other player from the whole world

About Facts

Checking Facts (or chicken-facts as we like to call them) is one of your primary activities. We tried to provide a large number of facts with varied ways of checking them for your playing pleasure. Some of these will require you to find various ways of killing the chicken, or sometimes to simply stack up on lives and then loose them all in a single checkpoint. We have a long list of facts which are still being implemented and added to the game, and you’ll have the opportunity to see them in future updates.
